I'm is an Associate Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at POSTECH, affiliated with the Graduate School of AI, POSTECH. I lead POSTECH Computational Imaging Group and serve as a faculty co-director of POSTECH Computer Graphics Lab.
My research, situated at the intersection of computer graphics, computer vision, AI, and optics, focuses on capturing, modeling, and analyzing high-dimensional visual data originating from complex interplays between light, material appearance, and geometry. My work has applications in mobile cameras, robots, autonomous vehicles, VR/AR displays, and scientific instruments.
Before joining POSTECH in the December of 2021, I was a Postdoctral Researcher at Princeton University working with Felix Heide. I completed my Ph.D. in 2019, under the supervision of Min H. Kim at KAIST. I was a visiting professor at University of Toronto in 2025. I serve as program chair for interantional conference on compuatiaonl photography (ICCP) 2026, local arrangement chair for pacific graphics 2023, and program committe members for prestigious conferences ilncuding SIGGRAPH, SIGGRAPH Asia, ICCP, Eurographics, Pacific graphics
I recieved awards, including Asiagraphics Young Rearcher Award, Frontiers of Science Award from the International Congress of Basic Science, Outstanding Ph.D. Thesis Award from the Korean Academy of Science and Technology, SIGGRAPH Asia Doctoral Consortium, Microsoft Research Asia Ph.D. Fellowship, and ACCV Best Application Paper Award and Best Demo Award.
